Silent Valley Wagyu

Live Well. Eat Well. Be Inspired.

Our Story

Silent Valley Wagyu

In 1919 the outpost cattle station of Silent Valley was established as a map point for the general dealership and postal service that the farm provided to the remote, rural community in the far northern, semi-arid Savanna region of South Africa.

Today Silent Valley’s Wagyu production system stretches nationally across many of our country’s pristine wild spaces; from the rolling green hills of Natal where our Fullblood seedstock is raised, to the windswept coast of the Eastern Cape which houses our calf- rearing station, and into the rich grasslands of the Free State where the cattle are backgrounded and finished.

Our Ethos

Eat Well. Live Well.

Silent Valley Wagyu

This is the ethos that guides us… What we fuel our bodies with has a direct impact on the quality of our lives, this stands for our cattle as well as the beef that we produce. Every part of our process is meticulously owner managed. Animal welfare, genetics and nutrition are of paramount importance.

Our cattle are reared without the use of growth stimulants or routine antibiotics. All our beef is fully traceable back to source via DNA. Our herd is closed to any form of transmittable diseases. We have direct control over every aspect of the diet that our cattle have available to them.

The highly nutritious, wild, native grasses that our cattle are grown on impart clean, buttery notes, naturally low in sodium and cholesterol, but high in the rich flavour and extraordinary health benefits expected from Wagyu. The unique terroir of Silent Valley Wagyu hints at Africa’s exotic wilderness, exclusively discernable in our beef.

Our Mission

Be Inspired

Be inspired every day, that is exactly what we are. Silent Valley’s Director, James Schnetler, is a 3rd generation cattle farmer and butcher with a genuine love of the animal as well as the craft. He has a shared passion for disruption through creative innovation.

Wagyu, along with our unique production system has given the opportunity to provide a product that outranks any other beef available from South Africa. Our beef is packaged under the most stringent food safety protocols in South Africa. We are HACCP and ISO22000 accredited, export approved, and Halal certified.

We also have a continued drive for sustainability and symbiosis. We tread lightly and operate with as little impact as possible, always supporting and enriching ecosystems, communities and partnerships where we work and grow.

Silent Valley Wagyu

Live Well. Eat Well.

Our values firstly relate to the way we raise our cattle. We are committed to giving our cattle freedom in the most natural environment possible. In return they produce the most exquisite and unique natural beef in the world.

Silent Valley Wagyu

Our values finally also relate to the way we live our lives…

We invite you to…
